How to Measure Your Pet
Whether you are thinking a purchasing one of our beautiful off the shelf dog coats or going to spoil your best four-legged friend with a bespoke outfit, measuring your dog is easy, and allows us to provide you with the perfect sized outfit.
To accurately measure your pet, you’ll need a soft fabric tape measure (the kind a tailor would use), a piece of paper, and a pen and your dog! Make sure your furry friend is standing on all four paws. If your dog is a wriggler try encouraging a bit of cooperation with a few treats!
Step 1: Measure the length
Take your tape measure and starting at your dog’s neck (approximately where their collar sits), and run it all the way along their body until you reach the base of their tail. Write down their length and remember to note the the units you're using (centimeters or inches).
Step 2: Measure the chest
Now you can measure the width of your dog's chest. To do this, simply wrap your tape measure around the widest part of their chest and again, note down the measurement. Do this again as the excuse for a mid-measure hug. ❤️
Step 3: Measure the neck
After you have the length and chest measurements, pop the tape around your dog’s neck where their collar sits and take their neck measurement. Don't pull the tape measure too tight, and be sure to leave two fingers worth of space.
Step 4: Double Check Everything
It's always worth double checking all your measurements. When you're dealing with a doggie whos more interested in licking your face and trying to escape theres a good chance something might get missed. Make sure you're measuring from the beginning of the tape every time (easy mistake to make), that all your measurements are in the same units. If your dog is between sizes, you’ll need to make a call as to whether to size up or down. In general, we recommend you size up if in doubt. Once you are ready either use the measure ments to order a standard sized outfit (e.g. 20", 22", 24" etc) or email us at YonderSavanna@outlook.com with your measurements and fabric requirements and we will lovingly stich a bespoke outfit which is completely perfect for your pooch!
